Had very old code in the kernel for tcp md5
from around 4.4BSD vintage
never ever worked

tcp md5 is somewhat similar to ipsec ah
implement it within the IPsec maze

bgpd needs a pfkey interface
committee designed API...
lots of head banging and beer
at least made real IPsec a lot easier
